Energy and Commercial Law

Energy Law

Energy law is complex and multifaceted.
Since my legal traineeship at one of the Big Four advisory firms, I have gained hands-on experience across almost every area of this field – from municipal energy supply and project development to industrial energy management and regulation.

Concessions and Municipal Energy Projects

I gained my first experience in energy law advising on network concession procedures – representing both municipalities and utilities.
I assisted in concession tenders under Section 46 of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG), from the development of evaluation criteria and legal guidance throughout the process to the often unavoidable court proceedings that follow.
Another focus of my work has been in the field of renewable energy projects.
I have advised municipal utilities, local authorities, and project developers throughout all stages – from land acquisition and zoning to public building and permitting law, and the corporate implementation of municipal participation models.
I have also supported district heating and geothermal projects, covering everything from municipal financing and procurement procedures to construction-law disputes.

Industrial Energy Law

As in-house counsel in an industrial group, I have experienced the importance of energy law first-hand.
My work focuses on energy procurement, energy and electricity tax law, relief and exemption schemes, and energy and climate aspects in large-scale projects.
I also advise on energy compliance, network connection issues, and the regulatory framework for industrial energy management.
